How We Handle Data

Adore Your Pets is a reading site. There are no accounts, no comment boxes, no newsletters and no games. Because of that, very little information about you ever reaches us, and this page sets out exactly what does, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: October 2026.

Who is responsible

The site is run by the Adore Your Pets editorial team. For anything to do with your data, write to hello@adoreyourpets.org. We read every message ourselves.

What we do not use

The site is a set of static pages: every article is built in advance and served as a plain file. We have deliberately left out the usual extras:

  • no analytics or visitor-counting scripts;
  • no advertising networks or affiliate trackers;
  • no social media widgets, like buttons or embedded feeds;
  • no fingerprinting, profiling or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Our fonts and images are delivered from the same address as the pages, so loading an article does not quietly send your details to a third-party service.

Information that is processed

Technical logs kept by the host

Like every website, ours runs on a hosting provider's servers. To deliver pages and protect the service from abuse, that provider automatically records basic technical data for each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser type and the address of the page that referred you. These logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. We do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify readers. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site online and safe from misuse as the legal basis here.

Your cookie banner choice

When you click a button on our banner, your browser saves that answer in its local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page. The entry stays on your own device and is never sent to us. Our Cookie Notice explains how to remove it.

Emails you send us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever is in your message. We use this only to reply and, where relevant, to correct an article. We keep the conversation for as long as it is useful, normally no longer than a year, and we never pass your address to anyone or add it to a mailing list. The legal basis is your request for a reply.

Links to other sites

Some older articles in our archive link to external websites. Once you follow such a link, the other site's own privacy terms apply, and we have no control over what it collects.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or a place with similar laws, data protection rules such as the GDPR give you rights over your personal data. You can ask us to:

  1. tell you whether we hold any data about you and give you a copy;
  2. correct information that is wrong;
  3. delete your data, for example an old email thread;
  4. limit the way we handle it, or object to that handling altogether;
  5. hand it over in a portable format, where that applies.

Send any such request to the address above and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.

Age

Adore Your Pets is written with readers of 18 and older in mind. We do not knowingly receive messages from anyone younger; if we realise we have, we delete them.

Changes

If the way we run the site changes, for instance if we ever added a new service that handles data, we will update this page first and change the date at the top. For general questions about the site, see our contact page.
